“I had a fairly sedentary pregnancy due to a few things and put on 3 stone (42 pounds) during the course of it. I wanted to get back into things as I felt really sluggish, but more importantly I now have the BEST reason for being the best version of myself; someone who is fit and healthy for my little girl. Because I had ab separation and a fairly difficult delivery I needed to get back into something gently and PiYo just seemed to be the natural option. I’m also still breast feeding so it was really important for me to start eating clean to ensure I’m fueling my body and giving my baby the best start in life.
Since completing PiYo in our support group, I feel great! I already feel much fitter and healthier than I did before I was pregnant, which is amazing. Starting PiYo made me want to also start getting out more. So we chucked in some good old ‘weighted’ walks, which I think has really helped with the fitness. I’m still not where I want to be, but it’s a step in the right direction.
I want to show people that if I can do it then anyone can do it. It’s difficult being a first time mum and adapting to a different way of life, than without children (albeit the best thing in the world!). I never thought I’d have time for myself, but actually I’ve found that physically MAKING time for myself and doing my workout has really helped me to adapt to motherhood and our lives together. I feel stronger and more comfortable in my own skin again; something which I thought would take a very long time.
I’m definitely not done and cannot wait for the next 9 weeks progress with Hammer & Chisel. Giving up is not an option and I’m going to continue to strive towards being the best and healthiest version of myself. Not only so I can run around after my little girl when she starts moving, but so I can be the best example to her.
I want to show others what I’ve achieved, and if I inspire just one other person to consider starting their journey, or keeping going, then to me its all worth it.
I’m still feeling pretty shy about sharing these pictures; I’m not one for ‘putting myself out there’, especially with hardly any clothes on! But it’s important to be real; honest and frank about where you are and where you’re heading. ”
